The cruise lines process the luggage left behind and will ship it to the address on file for the passenger. This service is performed by Pak Mail, 222 West 21st Street in Norfolk, VA 23517. (757) 626-0065. Pak Mail will contact you to arrange for shipping.
It takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport to Half Moone. Taxi fares range from $18 - $25. For more information on Norfolk International Airport, directions and ground transportation options, please visit www.norfolkairport.com.
Guests arriving by bus from our parking area will be dropped off by complimentary shuttle in front of Half Moone (One Waterside Drive). Those guests being dropped off by a friend/relative should also plan on coming directly to Half Moone. Our porter team will assist with baggage. Guests will then proceed to our check-in area. Please remember to have a photo ID and boarding documentation in-hand. Before boarding, passengers will be required to go through security x-rays.
Guests arriving early are in luck. The cruise ship pier is adjacent to Nauticus. This is an interactive science/technology center that focuses on the sea. It's also home to the Battleship Wisconsin, one of the largest and last battleships built by the U.S. Navy. For more information on this exciting 120,000 square-foot facility, please visit www.nauticus.org.
The night before arriving back in Norfolk, passengers will be asked to place all luggage outside their cabin door. Stewards will collect the luggage and store it in a locked area overnight. In the morning, the luggage will be laid out in rows according to a color-coded tag system. Guests who have exceeded their Customs Tax & Duty Free limit will be asked to meet in a certain area of the vessel. Afterwards, debarking guests will be called off the ship by colored tags.
Norfolk is one of the few ports in the country that utilizes a system called "Express Debark." Essentially, if guests are able to carry/roll their own luggage, they'll be called off the vessel before those with color-coded tags. Please note this is only the case if you are traveling with Carnival.
Passengers should have their parties meet them directly at Half Moone. However, due to a large number of disembarking guests, we suggest having your friend park across the street and meet you at Half Moone. There is no parking on-site. For a list of parking garages in close walking distance, please visit www.norfolk.gov/parking.
